Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance?
We are considered an out-of-network provider and do not accept insurance at this time. This allows us to tailor your child’s treatment plan to their individual needs, without the input from insurance companies (who probably don’t know your child at all!).
Remaining private pay offers other benefits as well- shorter wait times, more direct therapy time (less paperwork!), and increased flexibility in when, where, and how we support your child/family. We strive to be family-centered, and that can be hard to achieve when working with insurance.
How can I pay for speech therapy?
We understand that paying privately for services is a huge financial investment for most families and we want to support you in any way we can.
Superbills: Our practice provides monthly superbills (itemized receipts for medical services) to families who wish to pursue (possible) reimbursement through their private insurance company. We strongly encourage families to contact their insurance carrier BEFORE starting therapy to learn about their out-of-network policies. Here are a few questions to guide your conversation:
Does my plan offer reimbursement for out-of-network services?
Does that include habilitative services?
Is pre-authorization required?
What are my deductible and coinsurance rates for out-of-network services
What is the process for submitting an out-of-network claim?
Flexible/health spending accounts (FSA/HAS): Many families are able to pay for services using their flexible/health spending accounts. We are happy to accept FSA/HAS cards.
Grants: Over the years, many families have received financial assistance through grant programs which help to cover the cost(s) associated with speech therapy (e.g., LISS Program). We encourage families to explore funding options and are here to assist in this process when we can.
Care Credit: We work with Care Credit to provide families with an option to pay for packaged services over an extended period of time. We are happy to support you in the application process. You can find more information on Care Credit here: www.carecredit.com.
If my child is seen at home, do I need to be in the session?
We require at least one caregiver to remain on-site during speech therapy sessions. Active participation is not mandatory, but strongly encouraged, to increase carry-over and promote faster progress. This collaborative approach not only enhances the connection between caregivers and their child(ren) but fosters a deeper understanding of communication.
How long will my child’s speech therapy sessions be?
Speech therapy sessions are typically scheduled for either 45 or 60 minutes, depending on the individual needs of your child. This amount of time allows for your child and their speech therapist to build rapport, which is crucial for creating a comfortable and trusting environment, where the child feels safe to engage and fully participate in activities! Additionally, it provides time for valuable caregiver education.
