Five years ago, Growing Together was just me.
When I started this practice, I had a pretty clear vision of what I wanted it to be. I wanted to provide speech-language therapy that felt different: individualized, relationship-driven, collaborative, and genuinely centered around the children and families I supported.
I wanted children to feel safe, understood, and empowered. I wanted families to feel heard and included. And I wanted the work we did together to feel meaningful, not just within our therapy sessions, but in the everyday moments that make up a child's life.
What I didn't necessarily envision was how much Growing Together would, well... grow.
From One Clinician to a Growing Team
Over the past five years, we've welcomed more families, expanded into new communities, built relationships with schools and other professionals, and, perhaps most importantly, grown into a team of wonderful clinicians who share the heart behind this practice.
Growing something that started as such a personal endeavor has been exciting, humbling, and, at times, a little outside my comfort zone. But one of the most rewarding parts has been seeing the values I care so deeply about reflected in the work of other incredible clinicians.
There's something special about watching a vision evolve beyond what you originally imagined while still holding onto what made it meaningful in the first place.
For me, that's what has made Growing Together's growth so rewarding.
Growing With Intention
I've always believed that growth should be intentional.
When I bring a speech-language pathologist onto our team, I'm looking for more than credentials or clinical experience. I'm looking for someone who is curious, compassionate, thoughtful, and willing to meet children exactly where they are.
Someone who values relationships, respects different ways of communicating, collaborates with families, and recognizes that progress doesn't look the same for every child.
Someone who is willing to keep learning, ask questions, and sometimes challenge the way things have always been done.
Because great therapy isn't about following a one-size-fits-all approach. It's about understanding the child in front of you, recognizing their strengths, honoring their individuality, and working alongside their family to support meaningful communication and participation in everyday life.
These are the values I wanted to build Growing Together around from the beginning, and they're the same values that continue to guide us today.
Different Clinicians, One Shared Vision
One of the things I love most about our team is that we aren't all the same, and I wouldn't want us to be.
Our clinicians bring different personalities, experiences, perspectives, and areas of expertise to the children and families they support. Each person has something unique to offer, and that diversity makes our team stronger.
What connects us is a shared belief in the importance of connection, autonomy, and meaningful communication. We believe in honoring each child's individuality, supporting families as active partners, and creating opportunities for communication that matter in real life.
As Growing Together has evolved, so has my role. One of the most rewarding parts of owning this practice has been the opportunity to work alongside clinicians I respect, learn from, and genuinely trust.
Building a team has allowed Growing Together to reach more families while staying grounded in the philosophy that inspired it all.
The Heart of Growing Together Hasn't Changed
Growing Together may look different than it did five years ago, but the heart of the practice remains the same.
We still believe that relationships matter. We still believe families deserve to feel supported and included. We still believe children deserve therapy that honors who they are, how they communicate, and what matters to them.
And we still believe that meaningful progress happens when we work together.
I'm incredibly grateful to the families who have trusted us along the way, the professionals who have partnered with us, and the clinicians who have helped turn what started as my little practice into something we're building together.
Thank you for being part of our story and allowing us to be part of yours.
