Spring Toy Guide

The days are getting warmer and that means spring is coming! I don’t know about you, but my kids and I have been dying to get back outside on a more consistent basis.

Spring feels like a fresh start, and since I’m always coming out of my post-holiday blues around this time, I love researching new toys and activities for the season.

I have way too many favorites in every single category- so this is not an all-inclusive list. But the toys, games, and books highlighted below can be used to support language, cognitive, social, and play skills at home.

Whether you’re shopping for the spring holidays, buying gifts for others, or just adding to your collection, I’m sure something on this list will work for the little ones in your life.

Safe for the Littlest Learners

(But perfect for the big kids, too)

I love these decorative shaky eggs for singing, making music, and playing games.

This felt vegetable garden is adorable and safe- it also lends itself to great vocabulary building.

“Ready, set, go!” is perfect for these adorable wind-up animals. Practice cheering them on together.

These character rubber ducks are great for practicing nursery rhymes and animal sounds in the bath.

Toys that can Grow with your Child

Help your toddlers sort by size! This carrot toy is great toy for problem solving and talking about big/small.

Hide and squeak eggs are a personal favorite- match shapes, colors, and silly faces!

These flower gardens never disappoint- great for exploring attributes and starting conversations.

This fine motor toy disguised as a beehive can be used and re-used for so many purposes!

Fun Games and Ideas for the Outdoors

Who doesn’t love a good bug kit? Perfect for exploring, showing, and recasting at the end of the day!

A super fun game for preschoolers! Jumping Jack is a game of chance and supports turn-taking.

Sidewalk chalk is classic outdoor activity. I couldn’t resist listing this adorable carton of egg chalk!

I just re-discovered egg and spoon race games. A great opportunity to work with peers and strategize!

These growing kits are perfect for new gardeners and help to foster early executive function skills.

Fun Spring and Easter Books for Kids of All Ages

Working on ‘yes’ and ‘no?’ Does not child enjoy sensory books? Try That’s Not My Bunny

How to Catch the Easter Bunny is a fun and adventurous book that will peak your child’s curiosity!

For all the Pete the Cat lovers out there- try Pete the Cat: Easter Adventure.

I’ve always loved Mouse’s First Spring- it has great illustrations and vivid descriptions of spring weather.

Too Many Carrots is a wonderful book with themes of helping, sharing, friendship, and responsibility.

Happy spring!! Hope your little ones enjoy this beautiful season.
